| Marta
Woodhull will evaluate the vocal performance with a fine toothed comb. Marta listens to vocal style and delivery, emotional energy, rhythmic phrasing, breath control, power, tone, and dynamic contrast. She outlines what is great and what to keep. She breaks down what isn't working vocally, and advises ways to fix it, while respecting your individuality and music style. |
|
| She
looks to see how well your song and your voice are matching. Marta evaluates if the lyric is hindering your vocal flow and tells you tricks to make tough words more sing-able. She looks to see if the melodic range shows off your coolest tone and style, and as needed, suggests what you might consider adjusting in the melody or the lyric flow for the sake of a stronger vocal. |
|
| Key
and range, tempo and feel can make or break a great performance. Choosing a key is more than just about getting all the low and high notes. It's about how your voice rings in the main body of the song, and especially how the hook hits home, to make a killer performance. Likewise, the tempo or feel can set you in the pocket or trip up your vocal comfort. Marta checks if these three elements are in the right place for you. |
|
| Marta offers studio tips, from a singer's perspective, to help you get a better vocal take. Many vocal track shortcomings are not because of a lack of talent. Studio techniques can make or break your comfort zone on recording day. Adjusting the pace and quality of time dedicated to vocals, communicating effectively with your engineer, and modern techniques in vocal editing collectively create a great final vocal. | Submit
as many songs, or as few, as you need help with. Billing is on a"per song " basis. Rough tracks, demos or final mixes are fine. Just try to send your best vocals to date. If sending a long CD or Tape, please indicate which songs you want Marta to focus on. |
|
| Include
a lyric sheet for each song to be critiqued, typed and double spaced. Marta "red-lines" your problem spots and writes her solutions regarding your breathing, phrasing, diction and pitch, directly on the lyric page. This is sent back with your critique. |
|
| Send
one copy of your CD or Cassette Tape. Do not send your master or your only copy. It will not be returned. We keep it to track your progress. Marta is affiliated with BMI and respects your intellectual rights. Please register your Copyrights if sending original material. |
